Job Summary
AECOM Canada has a mid-level Environmental Scientist position available for
immediate employment in our Calgary office. The focus of this group is
assessment- remediation and reclamation of complex contaminated sites for an
upstream oil and gas client.
The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for supervising the field
program associated with a group of upstream oil and gas remediation and
reclamation projects in Western Canada with up to 50% field work each year.
This position will integrate into a team of environmental engineers-
scientists and field technicians to provide leadership to junior staff on a

established program.

Other responsibilities of this position include- but are not limited to:

Supervising and coordinating assessment and remediation field projects.

Generation of safety documentation and dissemination of safety culture to subcontractors.

Responsible for compliance with all AECOM field supervisory requirements and AECOM and Client safety requirements.

Accountability for project performance and compliance with project delivery expectations.

Demonstrating creativity- foresight- and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual field-related technical problems.

Mentorship and development of junior field staff.

Reporting of field findings including selection of applicable guidelines.

Junior project management duties such as cost tracking- invoicing- KPI tracking etc.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree- or Diploma with equivalent experience.

4+ years of relevant professional experience

Experience with Phase I- II and remediation field programs.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Strong Client management skills.

Ability to manage time effectively and competing deadlines.

Excellent knowledge of Excel and Word- GINT considered an asset.

High capacity with a can-do- positive attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced- challenging environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with upstream oil and gas clients

Experience with reclamation programs considered an asset

Experience with Environmental Site Assessments- including soil assessments- groundwater and surface water monitoring.

Understanding of Alberta Tier 1/2 and CCME guidelines.

SST- risk assessment and/or in-situ treatment experience considered an asset.

Experience with British Columbia and Saskatchewan regulations considered an asset.

Registration as a P.Biol.- P.Ag- P.Eng.- or P.Geo. an asset.
