Experiences are invited at the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire Hotel (A Fairmont Managed Hotel)- located in the heart of downtown Calgary in the midst of the city`s most exciting shopping and recreation area. Our award-winning- 4-diamond- all-suite hotel`s neighboring attractions include the Eau Claire Market- Y.M.C.A. and Prince|s Island Park – an extensive parkland which plays host to a multitude of Calgary festivals.
Summary of Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Banquets- responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Preparing and organizing set-ups for upcoming banquet events
Setting up banquet functions and conference rooms as specified by meeting organizers
Providing exceptional service to all guests in a variety of settings including plated and buffet banquets for breakfasts- lunch and dinners- working lunches- coffee breaks- cocktail receptions- formal evening events and off-site catering event
Offering high-level of product knowledge and follow-up on all guest enquirie
Tear-down and clean-up following banquet functions/conference room
Providing internal and external guests with exceptional customer servic
Other duties as assigned
Must have Pro-Serve certification
Previous experience in formal banquet or catering environments
Must be very personable with a great attitude- physically fit and a high energy level
Some heavy lifting is required – ex. loaded trays- chaffing dishes
Strong communication skills are essential
Must be very reliable with flexibility to work a variety of shifts
Teamwork is essential in building trust through integrity and hard-work
Variety of food & beverage experience is a definite asset
Commitment to Health & Safety and dedication to maintaining a safe work environment
Exceptional guest service must come naturally
Must be available for a variety of shifts including early mornings and late nights with flexibility in days off
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
Constant standing and walking throughout shift
Constant lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
Occasional kneeling- pushing- pulling- lifting
Occasional ascending or descending ladders- stairs and ramps
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
